“Kutastha” is a Sanskrit term that means “that which remains unchanged, immovable, and eternal.” It is a key concept in Vedanta and Kriya Yoga, referring to the unchanging, pure consciousness that exists beyond the fluctuations of the mind and body.
“Kutastha” is a term from yogic and Vedantic traditions, often referring to the unchanging, eternal consciousness or the witness-self (associated with the third eye or Ajna chakra).
Meaning of Kutastha
- Kuta = Peak, summit, or immovable.
- Stha = Established or fixed.
- Kutastha = That which is firmly established, like the summit of a mountain, unaffected by worldly changes.
Kutastha in Spiritual Philosophy
- In Advaita Vedanta: Kutastha is the witness consciousness (Sakshi) that observes the activities of the body, mind, and ego but remains separate from them.
- In Yoga & Kriya Yoga: Kutastha refers to the spiritual eye (Ajna chakra), the seat of divine perception where one realizes their eternal nature.
- In Bhagavad Gita: It represents the unchanging self (Atman) that remains steady amidst the changes of life.
