Adi Shankaracharya
Preach for Better Life– Adi Shankaracharya(788–820 CE) –
Adi Shankaracharya (788–820 CE) was a great Indian philosopher, theologian, and spiritual leader who played a key role in reviving and consolidating Advaita Vedanta, a non-dualistic school of Hindu philosophy. He traveled across India, debating scholars and spreading the idea that the ultimate reality (Brahman) is one and formless.
Key Teachings of Adi Shankaracharya:
- Advaita Vedanta – Everything is one; the soul (Atman) and ultimate reality (Brahman) are not separate.
- Maya (Illusion) – The world is an illusion; true knowledge removes ignorance.
- Jnana Yoga (Path of Knowledge) – Liberation (Moksha) comes through self-realization, not rituals.
- Bhakti & Karma – While knowledge is supreme, devotion and selfless action also lead to truth.
His Contributions:
- Established Four Mathas (Monasteries) – In the four corners of India (Sringeri, Puri, Dwaraka, and Badrinath) to preserve and spread Vedantic knowledge.
- Wrote Commentaries – On Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and Brahma Sutras, simplifying deep spiritual concepts.
- Composed Stotras (Hymns) – Such as Bhaja Govindam to inspire devotion and wisdom.
He remains one of the greatest spiritual minds in Indian history, and his teachings continue to influence Hindu philosophy today.
