Meaning of Kutastha

  • Kuta = Peak, summit, or immovable.
  • Stha = Established or fixed.
  • Kutastha = That which is firmly established, like the summit of a mountain, unaffected by worldly changes.

Kutastha in Spiritual Philosophy

  • In Advaita Vedanta: Kutastha is the witness consciousness (Sakshi) that observes the activities of the body, mind, and ego but remains separate from them.
  • In Yoga & Kriya Yoga: Kutastha refers to the spiritual eye (Ajna chakra), the seat of divine perception where one realizes their eternal nature.
  • In Bhagavad Gita: It represents the unchanging self (Atman) that remains steady amidst the changes of life.
